Optimizing the consolidation point of Company X
Author(s): Rossum, T.A. van (2024)
Abstract:
Company X's Consolidation Point (CP) operates as a crossdocking warehouse for receiving, preparing, and dispatching international manufactured goods to Company X's overseas assembly plants. With a new production facility in overseas scheduled for 2025, the volume at the CP is expected to increase. This expansion raises concerns about the CP's capacity to handle the additional volume. This research assesses whether the current CP capacity can accommodate the expected growth through simulation-based analysis. The results indicate that the existing layout and processes are sufficient. The analysis also generated recommended capacity improvements, and the report concludes with a plan for Company X to implement these enhancements effectively.
