Abstract:
The world population is rapidly ageing, which leads to challenges in the healthcare system. Elderly people are more likely to end up in the hospital after a trauma has occurred. To assess the rehabilitation capacity of a geriatric patient, the intrinsic capacity (IC) can be used to determine a person’s physical and mental abilities. The vitality IC can be measured through the grip work (GW) of a patient. The Eforto® is a handgrip monitoring device that can measure this GW. Currently, the Eforto® has not been implemented into the geriatric hospital care. The aim of this study is to explore the acceptability of the Eforto® in acute geriatric healthcare at Ziekenhuis groep Twente in Almelo and to gain a deeper understanding of health care professionals' perceptions regarding its use using the UTAUT model.
