A Qualitative Interview Study : Investigating Students’ Attitudes and Engagement with Digital Mental Health Interventions (DMHI)

Naumann, Tina (2025)

A concerning rise in mental health disorders among students poses a significant negative impact on their mental health. Despite this, accessible mental health support is scarce and often out of reach. Digital Mental Health Interventions (DMHIs) present a solution to help bridge this gap. However, engagement and interaction with these interventions demands further investigation. This study aims to gain a deeper understanding of students’ attitudes toward Digital Mental health Interventions and what influences their engagement with such. A qualitative research study was conducted, utilizing semi-structured interviews with 14 university students. Based on their answers, a thematic analysis following Braun & Clark’s (2012) guidelines was performed.
