Unfinished business, referring to unresolved relational issues following bereavement, has been identified as an important contributor to prolonged and maladaptive grief reactions. The Unfinished Business in Bereavement Scale – Brief (UBBS-B) is a concise measure designed to assess two core components of unfinished business: Unfulfilled Wishes and Unresolved Conflict. Although the UBBS-B has demonstrated good psychometric properties in English-speaking samples, no validated Dutch version was previously available. The present study aimed to examine the factor structure and reliability of the Dutch UBBS-B in a sample of bereaved adults. A total of 247 Dutch-speaking bereaved participants completed the UBBS-B as part of an online survey. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) using robust estimations was conducted to test the hypothesized two-factor model. Internal consistency was evaluated using Cronbach’s alpha and McDonald’s omega. The CFA supported the two-factor structure of the Dutch UBBS-B, with acceptable to good model fit (robust CFI = .96, robust TLI = .94, RMSEA = .09, SRMR = .07). All items loaded significantly on their intended factors, and the two latent factors showed acceptable levels of correlation, indicating related but still distinct components of unfinished business. Both subscales demonstrated good internal consistency (α = .82 and .78; ω = .83 and .79 for Unfulfilled Wishes and Unresolved Conflict, respectively). These findings indicate that the Dutch version of the UBBS-B is a reliable and structurally valid instrument for assessing unfinished business after bereavement. The scale may be useful in both research and clinical settings for Dutch-speaking populations, by enabling quick reliable screening
