Economic Success of Tourism

Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries in the world today. This study investigates the economic success of tourism in two countries: Peru and Portugal. Tourism is subject to public administration, which is why it is an important recurring topic. The study’s investigation includes tourism’s contributions to the economy of the countries along with marketing strategies, as well as issues surrounding tourism. The study was conducted through desk research and fieldwork in Peru and Portugal, guided by the descriptive research approach. A comparative analysis is also presented in order to answer the research questions. The findings include the state of tourism in the countries, the evidences of economic success brought by tourism, and the prospects of tourism for further economic development. Recommendations center on the establishment and effective implementation of suitable strategies for the development of tourism.
