De invloed van communicatie op het beeld van meisjes van een prototypische alcohol drinker

Author(s): Seeger, Kristin (2009)

Abstract:
This study examined the effect of communication with young girls on the variables of the Prototype/willingness model related to binge drinking. The aim of the study was to determine the predictive value of communication of the social environment on shaping positive or negative prototypes concerning the use of alcohol. A hundred and twenty-three Dutch female students filled in a 35-item-questionnaire about alcohol use. The obtained data confirmed that negative communication of the peer group had a significant influence on shaping young girls’ prototypes about alcohol. Positive communication had no significant effect. Other findings of positive and negative communication with parents are not significant. These results could be a valuable contribution to intervention programs challenging excessive alcohol consumption among youngsters.
