An international review of the cost-effectiveness of expanded neonatal bloodspot screening and its implications for the Netherlands : (heel)Pricking Babies around the Globe

In 2008 the Center for Population Screening (CvB) made an inventory of Dutch cost-effectiveness evaluations for all its screening programs. This inventory showed that so far, no evaluation had been conducted to determine the cost-effectiveness of the heel prick program. In 2007 the Dutch neonatal heel prick screening program was expanded from 3 to 17 conditions and therefore received priority for determining its cost-effectiveness. This report is meant to show what is known about the costeffectiveness of the neonatal heel prick program through cost-effectiveness evaluations done abroad
