The purpose of this study was to test the assumptions of Tsui et al. (1997) which state that employers approach temporary workers with a limited quasi-spot contract or an underinvestment approach. To test this assumption, interviews and questionnaires were conducted under 9 managers and supervisors in 3 Dutch companies. Based on the results, assumptions of Tsui et al. (1997) could not be confirmed because all 3 companies used a mutual investment approach towards temporary workers. The findings were discussed and conclusions were drawn upon the results. As a conclusion, limitations of this study and recommendations for further research are addressed
