De-institutionalisation of people with mild or borderline Intellectual Disability (ID) generates not only positive benefits. Increased freedom and participation in the community has resulted also in a greater exposure to alcohol and misuse. Few studies examined the risk factors of alcohol (mis-) use in this target group.
