Abstract:
Caring for people with dementia and the wandering behavior of demented people is considered to be a heavy burden for caregivers. Due to a growing shortage of formal caregivers in intramural settings, a lot of people with dementia have to stay at home for a long time receiving care from informal caregivers. For both formal and informal caregivers this means an additional burden. GPS technology offers a possible support in the care for people with dementia. The aim of this research is to understand the benefits and barriers of GPS technology for people with dementia as well as for their caregivers. Furthermore, how this technology can support caregivers.
