Geestelijke gezondheid en de relatie met narratieve strategieën in levensverhalen

Schlüter, Katrin (2010)

A person’s life story is an internalized and evolving narrative of the self that selectively reconstructs the past and anticipates the future in such a way as to provide a life with an overall sense of coherence and purpose. People explain who they are, how they came to be, and where they believe their lives may be going by formulating, telling, and revising stories about the personal past and the imagined future (Bruner, 1990). This qualitative and explorative study is the first to determine the relation between mental health and narrative strategies in life stories. Therefore, this analysis sets out to deal with the following research question: “Is there a difference in narrative strategies in life stories of seniors with a good or less good mental health?”
