Het effect van schrijfoefeningen op een touchscreen-computer op de leesbaarheid van het handschrift van kinderen met ASS.

Schaik, M.C. van (2013)

This study examined if special designed touchscreen handwriting software could improve the handwriting of children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). Twenty-four children on a school for Special Primary Education accomplished writing exercises. These writing exercises includes 6 fonts and 6 linking fonts. Twelve children accomplished writing exercises which were played on a touch device (experimental condition) and twelve children accomplished writing exercises (same fonts) trough a traditional writing method (control condition) during six experimental sessions. The results were measured with a handwriting exam which were taken before and after the experimental sessions. The results indicate partially enhancing of handwriting legibility as a result of using the touchscreen writing software. Possibilities for further research and practical implications are discussed.
