Development of a ridematching model: Recognizing carpool possibilities based on overlap in routes of users

This research aims at developing a method that facilitates carpooling amongst a group of acquaintances by matching persons for shared rides. In constrast to existing carpool apps and methods from literature, we assume each person owns a car and is able to drive to a certain meeting point to start a shared ride. We develop a method that recognizes overlap in routes of users and matches users with overlapping routes for a carpool.
