Abstract:
Recent research on Entrepreneurial Leadership (EL) has focused largely on the personality traits and characteristics of EL but there is a lack in literature about the effectiveness of Entrepreneurial Leadership in the situational business context. This paper uses the literatures on Entrepreneurial Leadership, corporate entrepreneurship and managerial levels to provide a general overview of the topic. Case examples of Google and Stratton Oakmont will illustrate EL in the business context and its influence on the success and failure of a company followed by the methodology section. By interviewing 77 managers the study detects three clusters/situational factors that managers think of when determining the effectiveness of EL. These are: The type of employee, the type of project or business situation and the nature of the business.
