The influence of the alliance configuration of Biotech firms on the alliance performance
Gruber, Christoph (2014)
The studies about diversity and performance are divided in literature about a positive relationship between a diverse alliance portfolio and performance, and an effect that shows an inverted Ushape effect of the two variables. However these studies have not considered alliance management capabilities that influence the performance of the firm. This study investigates firstly the effect of alliance diversity on performance by testing a linear and a curvilinear relationship between the variables. It secondly tests if the effect between alliance diversity and performance is moderated by the alliance management capabilities the firms has, thus resulting in a better performance when higher alliance management capabilities are involved.
