Abstract:
The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between neighbourhood disorder and crime in the city districts of Rotterdam. This relationship is analyzed in relation to the Broken Windows Theory. This includes the variables fear of crime and social control. Correlational analyses are used to test this relationship. The results showed that the variables of the Broken Windows Theory are correlated. Indicating that the Broken Windows Theory could explain the relationship between neighbourhood disorder and crime in the city districts of Rotterdam.
