The internet is perceived to be an ever more important source of medical information. In the Netherlands, patient organisations are often regarded as important potential providers of this information, because of their indepent position in relation to the medical establishment, the pharmaceutical industry and insurance companies. At the samen time, these organisations appear to be in an ideal position to act as designers of technology. They posses a unique knowledge of their audience, and are not under the pression of competition. Therefor, nothing seem to hinder these organisations to involve their users in the design process.
