A practical approach to maintenance performance measurement: shifting the focus from the alignment with strategic objectives to the managerial possibilities to iprove maintenance effectiveness and efficiency

Maintenance performance measurement (MPM) literature primarily aims to align maintenance performance indicators (MPIs) with strategic objectives. This is not linked to minimising the costs of deterioration, i.e. maximising the effectiveness and efficiency of maintenance. This research has developed and applied a practical approach to MPM. A comprehensive overview of managerial possibilities to influence maintenance provides the insights to set up MPIs linked to solutions. The gap of practicality is bridged. The functionality of the approach is applied at the vessel management service provider Fugro Marine Services.
