VICA: The Dutch Windmill - Towards a Contemporary Business Information Management Maturity Model

Information management is a relatively young field. Although it earned a prominent position in a wide range of organizational contexts, in most organizations the area is still immature. Field research by Capgemini has shown that a major part of the surveyed organizations have a level 1 or 2 maturity on a 0‐to‐5 scale maturity level. Though for most organizations the concern of having an information management department is clear, bringing it to a more mature level is not that straightforward. Existing maturity models are not complete or are outdated from certain perspectives. Some models only comprise certain aspects of the information management field. There is a need for a practical maturity model that will give insight to an organization where it is currently are positioned. The present study delivers a proposal maturity model on information management with contemporary focus areas.
