En-route rescheduling of home deliveries : a case study on the home delivery operation of a large retail organization in the Netherlands

A case study on en-route rescheduling of home deliveries. We develop a Tabu Search Rescheduling method to reduce the number of late deliveries that can occur due to uncertainty in duration of activities in a home delivery operation. We test our method using a simulation model and we find that we are able to reduce the number of late deliveries for all customer types compared to the current situation.
