Abstract:
This study investigates the relationship between the strength-based approach and employee well-being and employee performance via the mediating variable person-job fit. In particular, it has mainly applied the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) theory in order to hypothesize why the key variables are related. The main research question is: “To what extent does the strength-based approach positively influence employee well-being and employee performance, and is this relationship mediated by person-job fit?” The data was obtained from cross-sectional sampling amongst Commercial and Staff employees working a Royal Dutch Brewery (N = 141). The results supported a mediation model: person-job fit has a significant and partially mediating effect on the relationships between the strength-based approach and employee well-being, whereas the relationships between the strength-based approach and employee performance was fully mediated by person-job fit. Furthermore, theoretical and practical implications, along with limitations and recommendations for future research, are discussed.
