Adopting the Cloud: A multi-method approach towards developing a cloud maturity model
Dijk, F.W. van (2017)
Cloud computing brings with it new benefits and challenges for organisations looking to adopt the IT services delivery model. In order to guide organisations in their adoption, a cloud maturity model has been created in several iterations through a Delphi study, supported with a literature study. The model contains 14 focus areas, each describing the organisational capabilities of an organisational aspect required for the adoption of cloud computing. The model has been validated with expert interviews and two case studies. The contributions of this thesis are threefold: it presents a cloud maturity model as the main contribution, along with a framework for assessing cloud maturity models. The third contribution is the elicitation of the impact of cloud computing on several organisational areas previously not mentioned in the context of cloud maturity in scientific literature: IT strategy, IT governance, Enterprise Architecture and Business Process Management.
