Combining patient centred processes and anaesthesiologic optimisation for the preoperative assessment clinic : discovering patient arrivals and facilitating timely screening at preoperative assessment clinic in Amsterdam Medical Centre

Challenged by aging population and the rise of comorbidities and polypharmacy, the anaesthesiologists at the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam use the implementation of a new hospital and patient information system as a start to initiate a project to optimise preoperative care and redesign the process around the patient. This research assesses the quantification of the patient arrivals to the preoperative assessment clinic and designs a schedule for the clinic to facilitate timely screening at the clinic for patients in the ideal time window to prepare patients for surgery.
