Optimizing differential impedance flow cytometry to assess the calcificationstate of calcifying algae

Author(s): Kersjes, Rutger (2021)

Abstract:
This research focused on optimizing a differential impedance measurement setup for single cell analysis of calcifying algae. A difference in impedance is used to classify normal Coccolithophores with calcium carbonate coccoliths and decalcified Coccolithophores where the coccoliths have been dissolved. Different parameters of the setup have been analyzed and tested to improve the separation of these two cell groups and a final test is done using these parameters. A separation between these two groups was found.
