The association between Sedentary Time, Physical Activity and Mood : an experience sampling study

Author(s): Richter, Marco (2021)

Abstract:
This thesis examined the association between sedentary time and mood with physical activity as a moderator variable in a sample of students. An experience sampling method (ESM) was employed in order to gather data from the participants in a natural context via daily questionnaires they filled out on their smartphones. For this, the application "Ethica" was used. An association between total amount of sedentary time and overall mood was found, as was an association between physical activity and negative affect as well as overall mood. No moderating effect of physical activity could be established.
