Abstract:
We know from research that feedback can have a strong performance-enhancing effect. In order to provide teachers more often with feedback, researchers of the University of Twente have developed the Impact! tool through which students and colleagues can provide feedback to teachers. However, in practice teachers are not able to improve their lessons by using the feedback on their own. Teacher participation in a professional learning community is considered a promising way to improve professional development. In this study different groups of teachers formed a PLC within their school and received training and guidance on how to use feedback as a basis of improving their lessons. In the end, the results showed that there are several important factors for a successful PLC.
