Ubuntu in the Anthropocene : Towards an African Cosmotechnics

This thesis proposes an Ubuntu framework through which technology could be understood in the age of the Anthropocene. To do so, the concept of the Anthropocene is explored through central notions such as personhood, agency and ontology. The importance of such an intercultural philosophy of the Anthropocene is illustrated by engaging with the work of Yuk Hui. Finally, Ubuntu as a framework for the reinterpretation of these central concepts is developed.
