Abstract:
Technological advancements and processes are rapidly changing and becoming increasingly integrated. As with the previous three industrial revolutions, ushering in the new industrial era, which is based on the ability to adapt and integrate digital and physical technology, brings with it a slew of opportunities and problems. At the heart of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is satellite technology's potential to give ubiquitous and increasingly fast communication to billions of people around the world. Unprecedented access to information, advances in processing power, and the integration of embedded devices will eventually lead to the creation of new narratives about how the satellite industry affects production, management, and distribution. The measures that the satellite business is doing today are laying the groundwork for future advances. At the heart of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is satellite technology's potential to give ubiquitous and increasingly fast communication to billions of people all over the world.
SES provides a vast and intelligent network comprising the world’s only multi-orbit constellation of Geostationary (GEO) and Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellites and extensive ground infrastructure – to deliver video and data solutions that connect more people in more places with content that enriches their personal stories.. SES Networks’ Skala Global Platform provides maritime service providers with a flexible and cost-effective way to deliver high-quality broadband services to ship owners, regardless of ship size or location, the research project hence focuses on this segment of SKALA
The main objective of this research is to is to produce a model with the help of neural network and machine learning algorithms that could predict how much capacity from a pool of allocated satellite beams with different overlapping coverages will be utilized by the vessels. With changing locations of the vessels, the model should be able to predict which satellite beam (Platform) will be utilized by the vessels as they move across the various beams. This model will eventually help in optimizing the sizing of capacity allocation to each Satellite-Beam coverage by deciding what approaches are best from a commercial perspective, which can include a trade-off of capacity allocation, solution design optimization, pricing of product packages and customer experience.
