Abstract:
In this research the patient flow from outpatient clinic to their surgery in an orthopaedic hospital was analysed. To gain more insight in this patient flow and patient distribution and to be able to adjust operations accordingly, a model was designed to forecast the patient distribution. We call this model the Markov Interventions Model and it provides the user with the ability to implement strategies or decisions in the model to see the effects of this implementation. This way, a better strategy can be chosen and the patient flow can be optimized.
