Predicting the impact of block scheduling on patient waiting time for MRI resources : a simulation study at the Isala hospital

In this thesis we make a simulation model that is able to predict the impact of several expected benefits and consequences of block scheduling on patient waiting time for MRI resources. We are able to create insight in the average waiting time patterns for a year for a selected set of specialties, based on the budgetted scan requests and historic data of patient arrivals. We conclude that a realistic production budget is the most critical factor to use block scheduling successfully.
