Abstract:
Erectile dysfunction is a benign disorder. However, it can have a large impact on the quality of life of patients and their families. Differentiation between psychogenic and organic nature of the dysfunction is currently done with the outdated RigiScan®. In the search for a modernized nocturnal erection detection system, the question has arisen whether penile temperature measurements can be a patient-friendly, non-invasive alternative for the RigiScan®. This thesis describes the main findings of our studies aiming to prove the concept of the penile temperature mea-surement methodology. Development of a modernized system for nocturnal erection detection is a crucial step in reintroduction of non-invasive erectile dysfunction diagnostics in hospitals.
