Introducing a BIM-based Spatial-Temporal Collision Detection Model to Avoid Work Zone Traffic Accidents in Municipal Construction Projects
Author(s): Mussche, G. (2024)
Abstract:
Spatial-temporal analyses have been widely used to predict struck-by accidents, but it has not often been applied to the the road construction industry. This research tries to fill that gap by developing a method that detects conflicts between workspaces and traffic spaces. This method is then used in a case study, where it is shown that the developed method can effectively predict struck-by danger and hence be used for the planning of temporary routes and stacking locations, for example.
