Abstract: | Rijkswaterstaat (RWS) has to replace or renovate a significant amount of locks. To minimize labor intensity, RWS wants to transition from an Engineer-to-Order to a Configure-to-Order (CtO) production strategy. CtO production strategy is often supported by a product platform and product configurator. The product platform is already developed and RWS wants to investigate how a product configurator can be made. Locks are complex and the use of components depends on location specific requirements and design rules, which impose constrains on the configuration. This thesis proposes a method for the automatic generation of a product configurator, from which corresponding solution space can be defined. In this method, the configurator is synthesized using Binary Decision Diagrams, which ensures the correctness of the configurator and minimizes error sensitivity, reduces labor intensity, facilitates ease of maintenance and adaptability. Furthermore, this method is supports both replacement and renovation lock configurations. In case of renovations, the allowed configuration depends on the current situation and the scope of components. The method is generic and can therefore also be applied for other companies that want to synthesis a configurator. The application of the method is demonstrated through the development of a configurator for a complex lock module. |
