Abstract: | The Netherlands faces significant hurdles in managing its infrastructure due to aging assets and rising traffic demands. Rijkswaterstaat manages a network of 1,145 bridges, including 178 steel bridges approaching the end of their intended 80–100-year lifespan. This study introduced a rule-based technical end-of-life assessment designed to aid Rijkswaterstaat in prioritizing interventions across its portfolio. The findings provide a framework for effectively identifying and addressing replacement and renovation needs, concluding with suggestions for advancing research on technical end-of-life evaluation methodologies. |
