Abstract: | In the landscape of procedural content generation, there is a large focus on the generation of large-scale landscapes. As part of a research project into the psychological effect of digital nature, there is a need for small-scale environments visible from a single point of view on the ground. This paper proposes a framework to generate a landscape with rivers and vegetation, as well as how the different parameters in each generation step influence the overall terrain. In addition to this, multiple methods are defined to analyse certain aspects of the terrain and used to test the system. These aspects relate to the visibility of different components of the system from the perspective of the camera, such as the presence of rivers and the obstruction of the view by single large objects. |
