Abstract: | In this thesis a new protocol is designed to support the negotiating of a medical standard. There exist several vendors of medical equipment that use their own protocols and message formats to exchange and store medical data. This creates problems in inter-operability. Using SIP we describe a control protocol that can negotiate the use of a medical standard. We created a new data format based on SDP to describe the medical standards (called 'MSDP') and medical data (called 'medical'). The last one is used to exchange single-valued measurements, to prevent a huge overhead of first negotiating a medical standard, and only afterwards sending this single value. The thesis describes the data format of the newly designed protocol, explanations on the use and interfaces for the dfferent components. To prove the concept, a prototype is implemented and evaluated. |
