Abstract:This design project was commissioned by Norm-teq. Norm-teq is a company dealing with wall anchorage. They are occupied with innovative solutions and new technologies for progress in construction. The HELI anchoring system is an existing anchoring system for concrete balconies. It is based on tensioning strands between the balcony and the building. This anchoring process could also be applied upon a steel balcony. A balcony can be built from modular components, it enables it to design it into the requirements of the customer. Norm-teq has been setting up a production line that is able to make their own steel components indoors. The design-assignment can be formulated as followed: Design a modular, steel balcony structure which can be anchored to the existing HELI anchoring technique. In order to get to a design, there has been looked at the current contents of the HELI system. Also the applications and the present production facilities were examined. From here the involved parties were featured. This resulted into the requirements. Lean management is a management theory that is booming within the construction industry. In developing this balcony it is therefore also considered whether these principles could be applied. Together with the developments in production methods it has resulted in a choice of designdriven variant. The preferences are hereby entered in advance into a 3D CAD program that ensures that the parts are custom made. The customer can apply their own preferences in the design and can still easily be produced. Assuming extremes in size and weight, an example is calculated to understand the design of the balcony. From this analysis a basic balcony design follows. This basic design is explored so that it would meet the demands that were made in advance. For each requirement and design choice there has been looked for a alternative option. The different designs are combined into a 3D model of the balcony. In the model of the balcony different options are applied so that the customer can create their own vision into the design of the balcony
