Abstract:People are more often exposed to information about threats and risks. It's becoming easier to seek information about how to cope with the risk, which makes it happen more often. It is important to clarify the determinants of information seeking behavior. This way people will be reached in the most effective way and will be informed as good as possible. Little is known about the influence of the amount of news messages on the need to seek more information. In experimental research it was examined whether multiple news messages create a bigger need to seek more information. Self-efficacy and trust in the source of the messages were also examined as a predictor for seeking more information about a risk. There was no significant proof that the amount of messages influences risk information seeking. Self-efficacy and trust in the source were no significant predictor for risk information seeking.
