Abstract: | Commissioned by Scoop Welzijn, a welfare organisation in Almelo, a research project was conducted with the question how far talent development goes, for the youth who are participating regurlarly in the activities from Scoop. Examples of these activities are workshops (eg on paint, rap) or “Huttenland”. The research question was investigated through the use of semi-structured interviews to 10 young people aged 12 to 21 years, who regularly come to the activities of Scoop Welzijn in the city districts Sluitersveld en Schelfhorst. Thereby it was asked what their reasons are to come to an ability and which abilities they develop, influenced by the activities. Then it was examined to which extent the youth is developed in the previously from the researcher chosen areas: Social Skills, Technology and ICT, Communication and Language Skills, Science and Nature, Art and Culture, Sports, Body and Health. It was found that the participants develop a large repertoire of social skills, caused mainly by the interaction with other people. From the previously chosen areas, the youth develop talents in the areas: Social Skills, Communication and Language Skills, Art and Culture, Sports, Body and Health. It can de concluded, that the activities from Scoop have a positive effect on the talent development under the participating youth. |
