Abstract: | For manufacturing companies with many Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) it is difficult to manage their inventories efficiently. Due to unreliable safety stock levels, more and more raw materials are purchased. This fast moving consumer goods organization is bothered with perishable inventories, changing forecasts and production plans and entrance inspections. By redefining the inventory control policy significant savings can be attained. The safety stocks should consider solely uncertainty in supply and demand and another SKU classification will contribute to control the inventories. Further, a tool is developed to anticipate on expiring inventories and a tool to provide insight in the planning adjustments. |
