Abstract: | In this report, the design, mathematical and practival validation of a flat sound generator will be presented. The generator consists of a thin sheet of aluminium and a 50% perforated steel plate, connected to each other with a sandwiched aluminium honeycomb structure. With this configuration, the system benefits from high stiffness properties without compromising too much in mass. To improve the performance of the system, active control is implemented. For obtaining a flat frequency response around the resonance frequency, a feedback control algorithm is applied. A feedforward control method is used to extend the frequency response in the low frequencies. The system is characterized by means of the Thiele/Small parameters, the electrical impedance and the radiated SPL. |
