Abstract: | There are currently only a limited number of organizations which adopting applications that use Distributed Ledger Technology. This is in part due to the risks involved with the technology. This research proposes a new IT Risk DLT Application Maturity Model which can be used by businesses to asses risks of DLT and enhance their development processes. A multi-method research approach is used to create the model. Through a literature study risk are collected which are proposed to a panel of 15 field experts from industry. This resulted in a total of 48 risks divided over 5 risk ares and 14 sub-risk ares which are verified through five small case studies. From the collected risks, maturity level descriptions are created for each of the sub-risk areas. The maturity of an application can be assessed using a number of assessment questions which result in a maturity level for each sub-risk visualized through a dashboard. The model currently has a number of criteria before it can be applied to an application. One of these criteria is the use of IoT technology by the application. Furthermore, a number of risk areas still provoked disagreements under experts and should be examined further. |
