Abstract:Animal agriculture has many consequences for our planet, and few are good. An increase in greenhouse gasses, higher use of resources and serious problems with animal welfare. Because of these reasons the current global meat consumption has to decline, but the world population is growing and the per capita meat consumption is also growing. For these reasons consumers nowadays should be motivated to reduce their meat consumption. This is why a mobile application was developed that helps people to reduce their meat consumption. First a literature research is done on why people choose (or don't choose) to reduce their meat con- sumption. This results in several design guidelines and an eventual design and implementation of the app. Then a brief formative usability evaluation is carried out, followed by a final evaluation to assess the degree in which the app fulfills its goal. The app was deemed easy to use, and the various elements of the app were considered to be be motivating.
