Abstract: | This study addresses the potential increase in effiency of Returnable Transport Item (RTI) logistics. Specifically, the study addresses how dynamic RTI repositioning can be implemented under a depot RTI control strategy. This study proposes a parametric and sequantial routing heuristic which plans forward logistics and reverse logistics sequentially. Parameter settings are optimized through Optimal Learning techniques. Results show that a hybrid RTI control strategy, in which RTIs are both repositioned along side the depot control strategy, increase RTI logistics efficiency. |
