Abstract:With most modern processors having more than one core, more resources become available to programs that can use these extra cores. This research shows which thread-safe Java List implementations are the best to use in programs with different ratios of read to write operations, evaluated based on the performance, energy consumption and memory usage. We found that two implementations outperform the others on all fronts, unless there are hundreds of times more read than write operations.
