Abstract:This paper considers the problem of energy efficiency in data centers. This subject was chosen because a lot big part of the global energy consumption comes from data centers [23]. It would be beneficial for the data centers to implement algorithms that reduce the energy consumption. This would also be beneficial for every one because less energy would be used which is better for the environment. In this research some of the literature regarding this subject is categorized per server type, arrival assumption and type algorithm. Also, an online deterministic algorithm considering heterogeneous servers is chosen to investigate further. This is done by implementing the algorithm in Python and multiple simulations are run.
