Abstract: | This thesis project, carried out for Tata Steel Netherlands, focuses on the creation of Protact-based packaging that is reusable. Protact is a steel sheet coated with plastics (PET or PP), also known as laminated steel. This project will assess Protact's reusability and create reusable packaging from it. In the course of this project, research was conducted to determine the barriers and benefits posed by consumers and the ecosystem. By performing literature reviews and interviews. Protact's suitability as a reusable material has been investigated by means of material research. The following phase of the project consisted of designing reusable packaging that can be made from Protact. Several techniques for generating ideas, including mind mapping and brainstorming, were utilised during this phase. This has generated four ideas. The final concept was selected based on a scoring matrix and an internal survey for concept choice. The final concept has been designed to be convenient to use and durable enough to endure multiple reuse cycles. The project was finished by creating a 3D-printed model. Validation was performed using this model. Aside from this, realistic renders have been created to display the product in the desired location and with various sleeve designs. |
