Abstract: | This study focuses on the segmentation of railway tracks, contact cables and catenary cables from LiDAR data of railway infrastructure. This is achieved by taking advantage of known railway characteristics, using linear algebraic techniques, and applying algorithms such as RANSAC and DBSCAN. The developed algorithm is applied to a few different railway segments from a larger dataset. The findings show that all objects of interest were correctly recognized, however the methodologies applied have their limitations |
