Abstract:This bachelor thesis investigates the impact of stakeholder engagement and political context on the outcome of sustainable mobility initiatives in urban areas, using a comparative case study of Malmö, Sweden, and Columbus, USA. The study is guided by the following research question: "What is the impact of stakeholder engagement and political context on the outcome of sustainable mobility initiatives in urban areas? A comparative case study of Malmö, Sweden, and Columbus, USA." The study is based on a qualitative research design and uses interviews and document analysis as data collection methods and qualitative content analysis to interpret the data. By analyzing these two cases, the study aims to provide valuable insights into the factors that influence the implementation of sustainable mobility initiatives in different political contexts. The study has potential relevance in informing policy makers and urban planners about the importance of stakeholder engagement and political context in the effort to create a more sustainable urban mobility system, resulting in more environmentally friendly urban spaces.
