Abstract: | The demand for battery packs made out of cylindrical cells and prismatic cells is on the rise. This provides an opportunity to construct an assembly line model that is capable of producing packs made out of cylindrical and prismatic cells. This thesis presents an opportunity to look into the various factors that are important while designing a flexible battery pack assembly line. This consists of a detailed literature review on current battery pack production technologies, determining the various processes involved, simulation model setup, and data collection of the simulated model, wherein optimization has also been carried out. Using this data, we have determined the factors in decreasing order of importance that are key in designing this flexible battery pack assembly line. The model is created in visual components. The processes in the model can easily be modified to accommodate real-world scenarios. This model can be further modified to resemble the physical assembly line that will be constructed at the Fraunhofer innovation platform for Advanced Manufacturing at the University of Twente. |
